Collection: Estelle's Story
Irina painted this collection to illustrate the powerful story of Holocaust survivor, Estelle Nadel, who recorded her experiences as a child in Poland as part of The Community Narratives Project (led by Deanne Kapnik and Sari Horovitz).
Throughout World War II, Estelle hid in various homes throughout and lost most of her family. There was not a single photograph of her family left. Deanne asked Irina to create a few illustrations for Estelle's story and this collection is the result. Estelle's only request was not to paint her mother's face because she could not remember it.
